PATHS Pupils
This year we are delighted to announce the introduction of the PATHS (Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies) programme in the school. These lessons will commence this week. The programme aims to develop self-control, emotional awareness, peer relationships and interpersonal problem solving skills. It also aims to develop pupil self-esteem and we will do this in our classroom by having a PATHS Child of the Day, who will receive compliments from some of their classmates and the teacher/staff.
Emotional understanding will focus on identifying different emotions whilst teaching pupils how to recognise their own feelings. These lessons will include role play, art activities and stories. Pupils are taught all feelings are OK to have however it is behaviours that are OK and not OK. This difference will help pupils to work on self-control when they feel uncomfortable emotions such as anger or sadness.
We know that PATHS is going to be a superb addition to our curriculum.
