Patsy McGlone MLA visits our school
Over the last two years Lissan PS, with the help of Patsy McGlone, has been working hard to secure additional funding from the Department of Education to upgrade and improve their current classrooms and school site. The school was awarded almost £700,000 to demolish two existing mobile classrooms and replace them with three new state of the art modular classrooms. Despite many difficulties surrounding the increase in costs of building materials, and the uncertainty due to the political situation in NI at present and its impact of Educational budgets, work was completed in September 2023.
The new modular classrooms have been built to the highest specifications, with a separate ICT Suite, Sensory Room and with the most update ICT resources and Interactive Panels installed. Lissan PS has also received additional funding to develop and enhance outdoor learning and play areas, creating a school garden, where the pupils can grow their own vegetables and plants and continue to develop their understanding of the World Around Us, the environment and sustainability.
It is wonderful to see the pupils engaged in learning in such amazing new surroundings. Thank you to Patsy and Christine for taking the time to visit!
