👶🍼Roots of Empathy👶🍼

26th Mar 2025

Theme 6 out of our 9 theme programme is complete. In this theme the wonderful children in P5/6 learned all about safety.

📍 How to keep a baby safe,

📍 How to keep themselves safe, and

📍 How to be mindful of other peoples safety.

We learned that as baby Déarbhla grows and reaches new milestones she faces potential dangers. At our family visit we noticed that Déarbhla is sitting up independently and she is reaching and grabbing at items now so the children learned that we can't leave Lego and other small objects around a small baby.

Watching Déarbhla grab and pick up the toys gave cause for great excitement in the class. This showed the class that we can have mixed feelings of excitement and worry... And our book 'Double Dip Feelings' by Barbara Cain highlighted this further.

The class were introduced to some international safety symbols that are there to keep us all safe and we chatted about how we can keep ourselves safe by wearing helmets when cycling and following water safety rules when swimming.

Thanks as always to Maeve, Fiona and especially our tiny teacher baby Déarbhla! ❤️
